Mohamed Abuagla 

Senior Strategic Advisor

Mohamed Abuagla is a Senior Advisor at Pilus Capital, advising on cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and large-scale technology transformation. He brings more than 25 years of global leadership experience across secure infrastructure, digital transformation, and mission-critical technology operations in the United States, the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.

Mohamed most recently served as Chief Information Officer and Chief Technology Officer of Al Jazeera Media Network, where he led a global technology organization of more than 1,200 professionals operating across 80+ countries. In this role, he was responsible for enterprise-wide transformation initiatives spanning cloud adoption, data platforms, cybersecurity, broadcast systems, and operational resilience. His work played a central role in modernizing complex, highly distributed technology environments under stringent security and reliability requirements.

Earlier in his career, Mohamed served as Network Operations Center Manager at the United States Department of Defense, gaining hands-on experience in secure communications and mission-critical network operations. In addition to his executive roles, he is the founder, chairman, and investor in multiple technology ventures across cloud platforms, digital banking, healthcare systems, e-commerce, and logistics.

Mohamed is a frequent speaker on digital transformation, security, and emerging technologies and has served on several industry advisory boards, including the International Broadcast Convention Council, the Avid Customer Association, and the SAP Media Advisory Council. He has been recognized for his contributions to technology leadership, including being named CTO of the Year in the MENA region and receiving the Microsoft Digital Transformation Executive award in Qatar.

Mohamed holds a degree in Systems Engineering from George Mason University.
